Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is employed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail, but to look as being sent from a different one, often with the objective to fraud the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a specific record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers globally get it. The record contains all mail servers that are permitted to send authentic messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and if the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the message will not be forwarded and it'll be removed. When you use this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam messages that appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a shared web hosting account on our cloud platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to use it is to select one of your domain names from a drop-down menu and to enter the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only when it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This option gives you the best degree of security, but it's not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are taken care of somewhere else. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.
